Led by multi-family construction and townhomes, Ottawa’s new home market demonstrated resilience with a continued upswing. Driven by the all time record number of resale home transactions in Q4 and 2009 overall, Ottawa’s has definitely been a seller’s market.

Ottawa new housing starts looking up with a strong November, up 36% from Nov. 2008, helped with the strong resale market and tight pre-owned inventories. Largest growth in new homes was seen in Nepean, with strong postings for Kanata and Cumberland.
Average sale prices were up by 1.8% year over year, at $389,793.
